Supporting CBD

Our annual dues are one of the lowest of any synagogues in Southern New England. However our dues do not reflect the true cost of operating our synagogue and Hebrew School. We depend on donations to make up for any shortfall.

Yet ensuring the viability of our wonderful congregation is a shared responsibility for all, each according to his or her ability to support CBD. There are numerous ways one can support CBD and the Hebrew School.

CBD Funds: (Click for Donation Form)

General Fund - Donations support the general operations of CBD, including programming

Building Fund – Donations support major maintenance and upkeep of the current CBD building

SCHS Fund – Donations support the South County Hebrew School and its programs

Wendy Adler Scholarship Fund – Donations support an annual scholarship to a high school senior who demonstrates a commitment to attending services on a regular basis, after becoming a Bar/ Bat Mitzvah.

Gladys Jacober Bar/Bat Mitzvah Fund – Donations support funding to deserving Hebrew School children towards their Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Jeannine Light Tree of Life Leaf:

Congregation Beth David’s Tree of Life, which graces the back wall of the synagogue, was made possible by the generosity of Dr. Gary Light, CBD member, in loving memory of his wife Jeannine.

A Tree of Life leaf is a beautiful way to mark and share life cycle events, such as births, anniversaries, graduations, honorariums and memorials. Sharing life cycle events builds a strong sense of community and at the same time you are supporting CBD, its programs, and the South County Hebrew School.

If you would like to donate a leaf (or leaves), please complete the form located at Tree of Life Leaf Donation .

Speaker Sponsorship

As part of its programming, CBD will invite speakers renowned in their field. An example is when Dr. Richard Freund, renowned Jewish archaeologist, spoke to the CBD community about the impact of the Dead Sea Scrolls on the three major religions.

If you are interested in sponsoring a program speaker please contact Sally Chorney, chair of the Program Committee at smchorney1@verizon.net.
